The Rainbow Effect of Photoshop.

When CS2 came out I bought it and thought my ‘image-processing’ life was complete. It was the greatest ever with lots of functions, more than I could ever need.
I walked around with my chest out, ‘there’s nothing this won’t do for my images’ I thought.

Then CS3 came out…’you’re not such a hot-shot photographer now are you? You need CS3 to be the complete article!’
‘Oh no’, I thought, ‘I’m totally inadequate now, I better keep it a secret what software I use now!’

Double blow…CS4, ‘Oh my goodness, now what do I do?’

‘I must buy this or else I’ll loose any credibilty I’ve got left, I can’t let the work I produce get any more average than it’s become since the heady days of CS2.’
…so I bought CS4 and you all know what happened next…CS5.

‘Oh no!’ I screamed, ‘ my work will go downhill again, will it never end?’

The answer is of course it will never end, CS6 soon, but it’ll have to have a mid-term tweak (CS6.5?) before it becomes CS7,8,9,10 etc etc.
I’m staying put with CS4 for now because it does what I need it to do for my business photography, however, I can see that for some they need the extra functionality of CS5/6.
Lot’s of ‘others’ won’t need it but think they MUST have it because they’re ‘artists’ and they MUST explore every possible may to ‘photoshop’ their creations.

(Can you think of any truly great artist or photographer who is ONLY great because of Photoshop?)

Experts in the obvious will say ‘you don’t have to upgrade if you don’t want too’ but really it’s a question of ‘do you really NEED to upgrade?’

But fear not dear friends…Adobe have got the ultimate version of Photoshop for every one of us…it’s at the ‘end of the rainbow’

Robin Hoods Stride

Robin Hood’s Stride is a spectacular tor of gritstone rocks perched on a ridge between Harthill Moor and the Alport-Winster road in the Derbyshire Peak District. Legend has it that Robin strode between the tower-like stones at either end of the tor, but this is unlikely because they are 15 metres apart and the ascent of the towers is difficult – especially the southern one.The area surrounding Robin Hood’s Stride contains traces of barrows, Bronze or Iron Age enclosures and hut circles, but the most visible monument is the stone circle known as the ‘Nine Stones’ (though in fact only four are standing) which lies about 200 metres to the north-west.
